Things are moving fast since the Christmas break. The windows are making such a difference and we can finally work inside without being frozen on the spot ! The first floor of the grange is being built and we can imagine the space so much better now.
There has been a lot of delay and Graham has been helping our mason for the past two months to win time, but it won't be enough to allow us to open both gîtes for the summer season this year. Realizing this was not easy, it brought a lot of discouragement and we are starting to feel the financial pressure getting bigger and bigger.
Most contractors are almost finished now and there is a lot to do for us before the heating specialist can come for the floor heating and the heating system. Being busy on the building site, bringing little changes by little changes and seeing the slow transformation of both buildings helps to calm our fears.
We took the decision to focus on the smaller gîte in the grange in the hope to be able to open it for the summer. We desperately need some income in order to finish the second one before Christmas.
This is not an easy phase, but we are learning to accept that things don't go as planned and that we need to take it step by step and find a plan B in order to make it financially. So, who knows, I might be looking for a job soon !
So, for now, working as hard as we can to make big steps in the grange and keep the focus on the beauty of the project, even when it gets hard, which will get easier with the spring on its way :)
